Dialogue between two friends on the loss of lives
for collapse of Rana Plaza
Zafi: Hello
Zarif! How are you?
Zarif: I am
fine. What about you?
Zafi: I am
fine too. But it seems to me you are little worried about something.
Zarif: Yes, friend.
I am somewhat worried about the collapse of the buildings nowadays.
Zafi: Oh, really!
The collapse of the buildings has become a very common incident nowadays.
Zarif: You are
right. The recent collapse of Rana Plaza is a pathetic incident for which many innocent
people have lost their lives.
Zafi: Oh, how
destructive it was! It's considered to be the deadliest garment factory
accident in history.
Zarif: You are
right. Besides, it is the deadliest accidental structural failure in modern
human history.
Zafi: Exactly!
As far as I know the warning to avoid using the building after cracks appeared
the day before had been ignored.
Zarif: Yes, the
garment workers were ordered to join the work the following day ignoring the
warning.
Zafi: Right!
And the building collapsed during the morning rush hour. Consequently, about
1,129 people lost their lives.
Zarif: Pathetic
indeed! And 2,515 injured people were rescued from the collapsed building. It
was possible as the government took immediate step to rescue them.
Zafi: Right
you are. But how such accidents can be stopped?
Zarif: I think
it is not easy but possible. In this case, all building should be built following
the codes of building.
Zafi: Yes.
Besides, the authority concerned should be aware of the life security of our
garment workers. Thank you for such a nice discussion.
Zarif: You are most welcome. See you again.
