Risky
Train Journey in Mymensingh
Hasan
Mahmud, Narsingdi, 05 April: The journey by train has recently become
risky and hazardous in Mymensingh. Very often most of the train compartments remain
dark in the absence of light at night. As a result, crimes like theft, robbery,
and smuggling are occurring frequently. The worn-out seats, broken fans, and
dirty toilets without water in the compartments are nauseating.
Same condition
is in the waiting rooms at the stations. Most often the waiting rooms are kept
under lock and key. Although from Gafargaon to Mymensingh there are two waiting
rooms, they are found occupied by beggars and vagabonds. The distance from
Gafargaon to Mymensingh is only 40 kilometers, but it takes as much time as it needs
to reach from Gafargaon to Dhaka due to sluggish movement of the trains on the
Gafargaon-Mymensingh route.
Sources said
the railway communication between Gafargaon and Mymensingh has become very risky
nowadays. As a result, the number of passenger train has considerably reduced
on this route. The passengers and goods trains on this route are running with
high risk. The condition of the railway tracks is very pitiable.
