Role
of NGO in Changing the Life Style of Rural People
Hasan
Mahmud, Dhaka, 16 September: The life style of the rural people is
being changed with the help of micro-credit and other programmes. People of the
remote area were suffering from a series of problem. They had no facility of
pure drinking water, electricity, sewerage system etc. They were passing their
days amidst scorching heat, biting cold and heavy rainfall. They were also suffering
from various diseases.
Some NGOs come
forward to help them; especially the Grameen Bank comes first to make the rural
people self-reliant. They are giving loan to the poor to upgrade their position.
They are teaching the rural people how to utilize money in business and
arranging adult education programme. In this way, the rural people are getting
opportunities to earn their livelihood.
Some NGOs have
also come forward with their health programmes by which the rural people are
becoming aware of their health, sanitation, and environment. They are helping the
rural people to make hygienic toilet. The rural people could not imagine having
electricity, but some NGOs are now providing solar electricity in the rural
areas.
There were a
few schools in the remote areas. But now micro-credit and other programmes have
established many schools so that their members' children could get the light of
education. In fact, NGOs have come in rural areas as a blessing for the people.
