Electricity in Rasulpur Village
Hasan
Mahmud, Mymensingh, 16 August: Electricity is unquestionably a boon
to the modern people. It is at the same time a bane to them because every day they
are getting deprived of electricity-based advantages as there is no rural
electrification programme in Rasulpur, a village under Gafargaon Upazila in
Mymensingh. The people of this village felt really exalted when they heard that
their village was going to be electrified.
In a short
spell of a month only, the village was equipped with electric poles and houses
were properly wired. People were highly delighted thinking that there would be
charming electric lamps at nights. Students expected that they would not need
to wrestle against the faint lights of kerosene lamps. But it is a matter of
great that the electrification came to a dead lock for unknown reasons.
The Rural
Electrification Board made only lame excuses. They are neither withdrawing nor
taking any active measure. Now a large number of village people are at loss to
see through this stagnant situation. Their sufferings beggar description. The
concerned authority and the government should take immediate measures to start
supplying power in the village so that the people can enjoy modern amenities of
life.
