Freshers'
Reception Held in Dhaka City College
Hasan
Mahmud, Dhaka, 10 September: Yesterday a colourful Freshers'
Reception was held at Dhaka City College with great fervor and enthusiasm. It
was arranged under the auspices of Students' Union that did the best to make
the function a great success. About 2000 students enjoyed the function. The
local Member of Parliament was the chief guest at the function. After the
recitation from the Holy Quran, the honorable chief guest inaugurated the
function at 2.30 pm. He also delivered a nice speech.
Then the
principal of the college delivered his welcome address. All the new-comers took
their oath and later the actual function began. One of the 2nd year students read
out the address of welcome and received the new students cordially. One of the new-comers
expressed his feelings and gratitude — on behalf of
the new students.
After that the
cultural group of the college performed their songs, dances, jokes, etc.
Finally a renowned band group performed on the stage and entertained the
students.
At the end of
the function, the vice president of the Students' College Union thanked the
chief guest, the principal, the teachers, and the students of the college for
their cooperation in making the function a success. The function came to a
close at 6.30 pm.
