The family which consists of father, mother, and their children is called a nuclear family. Such a family is usually developed on the good relationship of husband and wife. In such a family, one can live according to one's will. I live in a nuclear family consisting of my parents, myself, and my younger brother. In my family I enjoy all the facilities of a small family like good food, good clothing, good accommodation, and good relation. Nowadays all the necessary things are very expensive. It has become very difficult to bear the expenses of a large family. So, a nuclear family is getting popularity day by day. A nuclear family has some advantages. It is free from the noise of an extended family. It is very quiet and peaceful. One has enough time to study. One has no bindings to anyone. One has much leisure to enjoy. Parents can easily take proper care of their children. They can manage their family well with their small income. They can educate their children properly. But a nuclear family has some disadvantages too. Here one feels lonely. Sometimes, one has to stay alone at home all day long. One finds none to get help in danger. Moreover, one does not find anyone to discuss a thing before taking an important decision. Yet, I like a nuclear family because I always prefer a peaceful life.

Games and sports are part and parcel of our education. They are called co-curricular activities. There are various types of sports such as cricket, football, badminton, volleyball, swimming, jumping, and running. Among them football, cricket, badminton and volleyball are very popular in our country. There is a saying that a sound mind lies in a sound body. We should have sound health to gain success in life. Sports and games help us to keep good health. They keep our body physically fit by circulating the blood of our body. They help us to develop our health and character. They teach us discipline, unity, team work, patience, courage, self-control and give us pleasure and recreation. They help us to forget our cares and anxieties and to get rid of monotony of our routine work. They create in us a competitive spirit which is a precondition of success in life. Again games and sports play a vital role in forming our personality and character. They teach us how to live in harmony and how to fight with opponents. Life becomes dull without games and sports. If we participate in games and sports regularly, it will relieve us from the fatigue and tension of our routine work. They are also a good source of pleasure. They help us much to develop our spirit of co-operation. When people of different nations get together on the occasion of an international sporting event, they come closer to each other. Then they forget their differences and become friends. They get a big chance to share their views, opinions and friendship. Thus, games and sports help us to strengthen international brotherhood.

Napoleon once said "Give me an educated mother and I will give you an educated nation”. This statement is enough to prove the importance of female education. Women are the half of our total population. So, female education is badly necessary to make half of our population literate for a balanced way. Once a time, female education was seriously neglected in Bangladesh. Our women folk could not get the chance of education for various problems. Early marriage and the narrowness of our outlook were mainly responsible for this. Parents thought it waste of time and money to educate their girls. They considered that girls were intellectually inferior to male children. They want their girls to be confined to the kitchen only and perform household chores and look after the male members of the family. They did not allow them to move freely and to participate in any outside work. They do not understand that if girl children are educated they can be as competent as male children. They do not also understand that when girls are educated, they can become a good house manager, a good mother at home, and even a good officer outside. It is unfortunate that in our society there are some people who strongly oppose the female education. However, the scenario is changing nowadays. At present, girls are being encouraged to study and admitted into schools, colleges and universities. Government has also taken some steps to educate our female children. Education for girls up to Degree level has been made free with a monthly stipend. This encourages them to continue their education. We should remember that only educated women can change the picture of our society. We hope the literacy rate of women in our country will increase substantially in near future.

Education is the process of developing our body, mind and soul through formal learning. Its necessity cannot be described in words. It is one of the basic needs of a human being. It is essential for any kind of development. It is such a process by which our physical and mental faculties are developed in a balanced way. So, education is called the backbone of a nation. A body cannot stand upright without a backbone. Similarly, a nation cannot prosper without education. Education are of two kinds — formal education and informal education. Each type of education is necessary for perfect development of body, mind, and soul. The aim of education is to enlighten the individual, broaden his outlook, refine his sensibility, enhance his ability to the limit, and remove the superstition of his mind. It promotes mutual understanding among people and provides us with an enlightened awareness which is essential for our being good citizens. It also promotes humanity and universal brotherhood and brings about a change for the better. Educated people are enlightened persons. They can think properly and act rightly. They can acquire values, knowledge, and practical skill. They can do their social duties properly. They know how to earn well and how to spend well. They can distinguish the right from the wrong. They can do their social duties properly. For these reasons, education is often compared to the light which removes the darkness of ignorance. On the other hand, illiteracy is the root of all ignorance. It frustrates all the development work. The uneducated people cannot understand their good or bad. They are the burden of the society. So, all the people should be properly educated for overall development.

Paragraph - The Street Children

Those who live in the street and have no definite place to live in are called street children. Their condition is very pathetic. They roam here and there on the streets, eat the leftover food from the roadside dustbins and sleep on footpaths or stations. Some of them earn their livelihood working as a porter. Some live by begging, some by serving as a servant in the houses of aristocrats, some by stealing things from shops and houses, and some by selling flowers. Some of them collect pieces of paper, old plastic things, torn shoes, etc. They do these jobs mainly for living. It is an irony of fate that these children are deprived of their basic rights such as food, shelter, clothing and education. They are very helpless. They suffer from malnutrition and get attacked with various diseases at their early age. When they grow up, they get themselves involved into illegal activities such as pocket picking and snatching. These street children have no family identity. Their parents have left them on the streets either because they have illegal birth or because their parents have got married twice or thrice. Finding no other alternative, they take shelter on the streets. These street children never think of going to school. Even they cannot have a square meal everyday let alone medical treatment. They are completely deprived of the basic needs of life. However, the government along with all conscious people should come forward to upgrade their status so that they can live as human beings and enjoy their basic rights.
